This season’s first El Clasico has been in favor of Barcelona. Barcelona struck a major blow in the title race with a 3-0 win over Real Madrid in Saturday’s Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Second half goals from Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and substitute Alex Vidal made it home and dry for the visitors and three points were safely in the bag of league leaders. This is the third straight win for Barcelona at Bernabeu, against their fierce rival Madrid.
Zinedine Zidane’s reigning champions, who had Dani Carvajal sent off for a deliberate handball just before Messi’s strike from the penalty spot, are now 14 points adrift of the leaders. Madrid meanwhile have a game in hand.
The Santiago Bernabeu roared its approval as the home side started strongly, and Ronaldo headed the ball into the net inside two minutes only for a correctly raised offside flag to cut short the celebrations. Madrid has several chances falling to two of the strikers Ronaldo and Benzema, but both being unable to convert the chance.
But it was only in second half when the game saw the goal, through former Liverpool and Uruguay Striker Luis Suarez when he tapped in the pass from Sergi Roberto. It was Messi’s penalty that made it 2-0 and late goal from Alex Vidal to wrap it up.
