A pair from Central Region, Jitendra and Shree Ram made a winning start in the Boys category of 5th Women’s and 6th National Beach Volleyball Championship that was held at Dolalghat on Wednesday.
In the match played at Beach of Indrawati River, pair defeated Tek and Bikram from Mid-Western by 21-9 and 21-8 to go through pre-quarter finals.
APF ‘B’s Suresh and Milan then defeated APF ‘A’s Laxman and Dinesh with a set of 21-16, 19-21 and 15-12.
NPC’s Kopila and Kamala also registered victory in the tournament as they defeated Gita and Sofia of Army ‘B’ team. Army pair straight lost with the set of 21-13 and 21-10.
In another match, pair of Lila and Amrita lost to Barsha and Ajita by 21-5 and 21-10. The both competitors were from Mid-West.
Former Prime Minsiter Jhala Nath Khanal inaugurated the ceremony. President of Nepal Volleyball Association, Manorman Ranjan Sharma, VPs Yam Gurung and Niroj Maskey and General Secretary Jitendra Chand were present in the program.
The winning prize money of the championship is Rs 25 Thousands. The second and third placed team will get Rs. 15 Thousand and Rs. 10 Thousand respectively for both Men and Women categories.
APF’s Saraswati and Nebika (Women) and Suresh and Mahendra (Men) are the defending champion of the tournament.
