Rahul Thokar Lama of Nepal has won the golden medal in the first Kun Khemr Championship organized at the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh. Rahul has won the gold medal while knocking out Cambodia’s Samnang Piseth in a 55-kg weight group organized on Saturday.
Ganesh Lal Kashyapati, president of the Nepal National Muay Thai Association, who is also in Combodia stated that Rahul knocked out the opposition in the 2nd round only in the amateur category. In the first round, while Rahul was in the back foot, changed the complex in second round, who was constantly dominating and knocked out Piseth. Rahul, who was competing for the first time in the foreign land, won the gold medal in the Indo-Nepal Muay Thai Championship in Nepal last June.
After winning the gold medal, President Kashyapati, who was also very happy with the team, showed that he had succeeded after continuous hard work. 3 more players are participating representing Nepal on Sunday, which includes Sasindra Ranjit in 65 kg, Anisha Khadka in 67 kg and Salon Sara Lepcha in 71 kg weight group. All 3 Nepalese players have a Combodian opposition as stated by President Kashyapati. Anisha Khadka won the gold in the last tournament conducted in Thailand.
Nepalese team had departed Cambodia on Thursday for participating in the competition.
