National Champion Samrakshak Bhusan Bajracharya and Prerana Koirala have won the Singles’ title of First U-16 National Tennis Competition “ANLTA-JTI” on Saturday.
Being able to rank first in Boys and Girls category respectively, Sanrakshak and Prerana won second gold medal for each.
In the Boys final, Samrakshak was declared champion when Pranab Khanal became injured in the game after falling down. Pranab had won the first set 6-1 while Samrakshak won the second second set 6-3 before Pranab retired from the game. Samrakshak was also the champion of U-18 Singles’.
In the Girls final held at Satdobato, Prerana easily defeated Saloni Tamang 6-1 and 6-3 to win the goal medal for second time. Earlier, Prerana had defeated Saloni in the final of U-14 Singles’.
All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association had organized the competition where boys and girls competed in U-8, U-9, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18 Singles’ category.
Earlier, Borish Adhikari and Sambridhi Maharjan of U-8, Aayushman Hajur Ghale and Prasansha Moktan of U-9, Aarav Samrat Hada and Prasansha Moktan of U-10, Aryan Giri and Rayana Shah of U-12, Samyak Bhusan Bajracharya and U-18 National Champion Mayanka Rana of U-18 were crowned Boys and Girls Champion of their respective category.
The winners were awarded by former Lawn Tennis president Hem Bahadur Lama, Organizer Association’s Malika Rana Basnet, Ajay Bista and Gyanendra Khanal in a program. A total of 72 players competed in the tournament that lasted for 8 days.
