Rs. 35 Crore To Re-Construct Pokhara Stadium!


Nepal Sports Ministry has separated Rs. 35 crore to re-construct Pokhara Stadium.

Sports Ministry has already instructed western region sports development committee to start preparation for detailed project report.

According to the president of committee Khadgaraj Poudel, the companies based in Kathmandu will prepare DPR.

“We will start DPR work from Sunday,” said Poudel.

“The ministry has instructed us to complete DPR as soon as possible. We will send the report to ministry soon so that we can start construction process.”

Nepal is hosting SA games in 2019 and government is race against time to prepare much needed physical infrastructure.

Ministry is currently renovating Sahid Stadium in Biratnagar.

Pokhara Stadium was constructed in 2044 B.S. The capacity of the stadium is just 4,000. But more than 10,000 fans turns out in the stadium to watch match.

NSC engineer Pranish Tamrakar said,” We will construct round parapet. The capacity of the stadium will be 25,000-30,000”.

Nepal Olympic Committee is planning to host some games of SAG 2019 (including women’s football) in Pokhara with the support from Nepal Government.
