Nepal U15 coach Sunil Shrestha said their main target in SAFF U15 championship 2017 was to win the title.
Speaking in the pre-match conference on Thursday, Shrestha said, “We have prepared well. We have home adavantage. We need to utilize it.
“Our first target is to reach semis and the main target is to win the tournament”, he said. He added four to five players were changed from the squad that toured to Sri Lanka where they had poor performance.
“Players in the team have been playing together since a year as we were preparing for AFC U16 Championship Qualifiers. 4-5 players have been changed in the squad that travelled to Sri Lanka. We have focused more on the attacking part. There is new goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and striker in the team. 7 new players joined the squad one and half month back. Out of them, 3-4 have made it to the final squad. We have prepared a solid team. “
When asked about the new captain of the team, he replied, “We have new captain in team as the former is out of the squad due to injury.”
“India looks stronger but we are ready for them. “, he added.
Nepal is hosting SAFF U15 championship from August 18-27 at ANFA Complex, Satdobato, Lalitpur.
Nepal will open the campaign taking on Maldives on August 21 at ANFA complex at 3 PM NST followed by final group match against India on August 23.
