Twenty20 cricket series lined up between Gorkha Rhinos and Lankan Lions have been postponed indefinitely. The tournament scheduled from April 25 (Baishak 12) to May 1 (Baishak 18) at TU grounds, Kirtipur, has been postponed due to Local Level Election and various other technical reasons.
The election of May 14 (Baishak 31) is scheduled two weeks prior to the series. Moreover, the second match of the three-match series scheduled for April 29 (Baishak 16) has coincided with the nomination announcement days for local level polls.Thus, keeping in view the security issues after necessary discussions with security agencies the organizers have decided to postpone the tournament.
The series would have played a major role to uplift the face of Nepali cricket at the global map of the game. Playing against current and former members of the game including Sanath Jayasuriya, Chaminda Vass among others itself would have been an opportunity for the emerging Nepali team.
Periwinkle Service, the organizers also request the cricket fans who have already bought the tickets to reimburse from same the company.
