Nepal lost 2-1 to hosts Sri Lanka in the final of 3rd South Asian Futsal Championship held in Sri Lanka on Sunday.
Nepal needed only a draw against the hosts to win the title but they lost the ground conceding late goals.
However, it was Nepal who took the lead first in the 7th minute through Subash Ghalan. Nepal was near the victory but Lankan’s Nadan shattered the result in the last six minutes. Nadan scored late goals for Sri Lanka.
“We could not hold the result in the final hours. We are glad to make it to the final in a very short preparation time.” explained team’s captain Sajan Maharjan.
“This is a huge achievement for us” said Deb Kumar Adhakari “Badri”, President of Nepal Futsal Association.
